My shady garden

Our new yard doesn't have a garden spot and I didn't know what to do with the empty flower bed that is under our deck, so in May I decided that I would love to have some squash and tomatoes. JT said that it was futile since the area is shaded for most of the day, but I didn't let that squash (he he he) my enthusiasm. We have been getting a few zuchinni and yellow squash, and even a few of the early girl tomatoes. So for future information...a garden likes sun, but it is not COMPLETELY necessary! :)

JT was the most excited about planting some beefsteak tomatoes and we finally picked our first one today! Unfortunately it was not much bigger than a cherry tomato!

And top off the day with BBQ squash...YUM!

Wow! I'm impressed with the shady garden. Good Job!

Sadly, your one tomato is about the same size as the ONLY tomato we picked from our garden this year. I planted 2 tomato plants and we only got one measly tomato! Enjoy your crop!

It did better than I thought it would. I guess 1 tomato is better than none, right?

Hey, you got a tomatoe, that was more than you expected and some zucchini and squash too? Wow! I have made so many loaves of zucchini bread this year. DELICIOUS! If you need a recipe, let me know because I made up a good one from the traditional using bananas, too.

OOOPS! I know tomato doesn't have an e at the end unless it is plural, but in our family we call tomatoes, "toe toes" because that's what Kaleb used to call them. I guess I wasn't thinking!

So cool! This is the first year in many that we didn't have a garden. It has made me sad. I guess we have been busy enough with the apricots, peaches and apples! :) How will I fit in a garden next year?!?!?
