Weekly wanderings #9/2011

What a great week!
1. We had Monday off for President's Day and finished the final season of "24".  What a fun and relaxing day!
2. Bri finished up her play last night.  She had her final performance as a lead on Friday night.  I am proud of all her hard work and dedication.  It has been fun watching her self confidence grow and seeing her interact with her friends.
3. Wow, it seems like a busier week than that...but all I can say is I have seen "Fiddler on the Roof" SIX times in a week and a half...that makes it pretty busy!

Playing around

Bri found a fun website called Picnik where you can manipulate photos.  She wanted me to play with it, so here you go: Cute girlie...
...and a pencil drawing of Bubba...cute as always!

Delightful

About five months ago we decided as a family that we needed to find a solution to keeping the kitchen clean.  I would do the dishes in the evening and then all the dishes throughout the day would get piled into the sink until the next evening.  We now have a rule that if you use a dish you have to put it into the dishwasher.  If the dishwasher is full you have to run it.  If the dishwasher is clean you have to empty it.  We have had a perpetually clean kitchen for five months now and it makes me a VERY happy mom!

Weekly wanderings #8/2011

What a great week!
1. Our main event this past week was Bri's play.  She did phenomenal.  I am so proud of all the work, time, effort and prayers that have gone into her preparation. She has four more performances, starting tomorrow.  Her last night to lead is on Friday.  I am sure she will be sad for it to be over.
2. If you ever wonder what a group of nervous junior high students are doing backstage right before their play is about to start...they are kneeling down to pray together.  I love that my daughter chooses friends with her same values.  Yep...pretty great girlie.
3. I spent Tuesday at the district science fair.  I am now officially done with science fair for the year.  FINALLY!
4. Bri had New Beginnings.  She got new Young Women's leaders a few months ago and they are doing a great job.  It was a very nice evening.
5. My house was invaded by a lovely party of zombies, all waiting to eat my daughter's brains... Then they realized that there wasn't much there for them so they left! :)
(The last one was Bri's contribution to my post!)

Opening Night

Bri as Tzeitel...makes a mother proud!  She put her whole heart and soul into her performance and I totally enjoyed every minute of it!  Great job girlie!

Oh, and did I mention the dress...

Bri is getting "married" in my mothers wedding dress from 1946.  It fits a little big, but the length is perfect.  The dress started out its life as my mom's prom dress, and when she was getting married they didn't have the money for a new dress, so a few alterations were made and it became her wedding dress.  It has lived the last half century crammed into a shoe box, just waiting for its stage debut!

Weekly wanderings #7/2011

1. My niece Lizzy had her baby, a little boy that I can't wait to hold!
2. I got in a mood to organize my fabric supply.  I cut cardboard and wrapped everything onto a "bolt".  I am happy with how it turned out, it is easy to find things and looks so nice!
3. JT made us homemade spaghetti noodles for dinner today and they were delicious.
4. I have enjoyed our little taste of spring weather this past few days.  I am itching to get out and get some dirt under my fingernails!

Rawr

I made a cake for my niece's sweet 16 birthday party, she is a random girl and wanted a random party so she had a ninja and dinosaur party, the cake was fun to make.

Bri drew a picture for her, she did this in about an hour!

Tzeitel...almost ready

Bri's play, Fiddler on the Roof,  is in a little over a week.  She has been working hard at school and is ready and excited.

I'm the king of the hill!

This funny horse is on the way to Bri's school.  I have seen him stand up on this hill more than once, and it makes me smile!

Weekly wanderings #6/2011

I am pretty proud of myself for blogging weekly for an entire month, I am enjoying looking back at each week and keeping this record.  Can that count as #1! (i say yes)
2. JT and I spent some of the day Saturday doing some minor redecorating, we moved a few wall decorations and furnishings and bought some new lamps.  It is amazing what a little shift can do for a room!
3. Bri got a new calling at church.  She is the 2nd counselor in her Beehive class.  She is so willing to do whatever she can to serve.  I am glad she will have that opportunity.
4. I made 10 aprons in two days this week.  I am selling them at the boutique where I have my other crafties that I make.
