Lost and found

I have been enjoying facebook lately. I signed up for an account a few years ago but never even used it until this past spring. My sister Marf got me going on it...which is only fitting since I made her blog! I have been having fun being able to hear what my family is up to, and even cousins that I have not heard from in years! I love technology!

All done

It has been a long week already. It started Sunday night with a pedicure for Bri...such cute baby toes! Who doesn't feel better with cute feet!

On Monday morning pre-op was a breeze...

Post-0p was not as easy... She is now minus a gallbladder and appendix.

She had a hard first night, it was difficult to keep the pain controlled. I am grateful that we were at the hospital that first night because they were able to give her pain meds through her IV and they worked faster than the oral meds. She had some amazing nurses that were kind and caring, even though they had to show her some "tough love" at times.

All smiles before we head home, even though that is not how she felt! She is always willing to smile for the camera! She had five incisions and pretty much looks like a pincushion. She is also a cute model for the new nightgown that Aunt Marf made for her. Thanks Marf!

We got home Tuesday afternoon and she slept most of the afternoon and Tuesday night she slept all night without needing any more pain medication. Today she has only had ibuprofen and is doing great, even got her hair washed in the sink and is feeling refreshed!

She has been a trooper and I am glad she is back home and doing so well!

Ready...set...

When we met with the surgeon at Primary Children's Hospital two weeks ago he didn't have any openings until July 27th, and the nurse told us he rarely has cancellations. We got a call on Monday and they did have a cancellation and we are going to be doing her surgery next Monday...in five days. Bri is nervous but we are very glad to be able to have it done sooner and be able to enjoy the rest of the summer after she is feeling better again.

My day in pictures

Bri and I went to the library and took a walk in the "fake nature". It is apparently not real nature if it is too close to buildings!

I made her sit on a rock for a picture, she didn't want to because she thought it was covered in bugs!

Back at home we were cleaning out her closet and I made her put on her dance costume from when she was 5...I laughed so hard my side hurt!

Cleaning out boxes and bags of old clothes, we are going to have a yard sale soon and get rid of all the junk...My bathroom is the "staging area" for the next few weeks.

Bri and I spent the evening sewing her some new pajamas. She wanted something new for summer and she picked out fabric for two sets of pj's. We got the first set finished tonight and will make the second set tomorrow. She sewed the bottoms and I did the top. It was a fun evening together!

Bri's bad day

We took Bri to a consultation with a surgeon at Primary Children's Hospital today. The plan is to remove her gallbladder and appendix (not necessary for the appendix but because he is going to be in there and it could potentially cause problems he wants to take it out). There is a 50/50 chance that taking out the gallbladder will not take away the problem but that is something we are willing to risk at this point. You cannot tell if it is NOT her gallbladder unless you take it out, so instead of wondering if it is the problem or not we are taking action and hoping for the best.

The doctor was wonderful and talked with Bri very clearly. We are grateful that we were able to see him, especially since we basically called down and got an appointment with whoever we could and had no recommendations from anyone. The soonest he could schedule her surgery was for July 27th, so we have to wait seven weeks, but at least we have a date on the calendar!

He talked with us about all of the tests she has had done and she had not yet had a CT scan. The doctor wanted one done before the surgery and when talking with the nurse about scheduling she asked us if we had time today... um... sure... We spent the next few hours sitting in waiting rooms and having Bri drink some fluid that would show her intestines. She was terrified of the whole thing because she would have to endur another IV and she hates them. She was a trooper and in the end she was glad that we did it today and just got it over with.

Now we just look forward to July and hope we can have some fun this summer despite everything she is dealing with.

Catch up

I have been very busy this past month, it seemed to fly by and I am still trying to find my footing! I am very excited for a fun summer break and being able to do some fun things with Bri.
This is a catch up post...I had a great mother's day...

We got our garden planted...

Went on Bri's fieldtrip to a Bee's game...

Took the student council on a field trip to the State Capitol...

JT's nephew got married...

I had a great birthday...

and I had to throw in a cute pic of Yeager...He was laying in a pile of his clean blankets! (They were still warm from the dryer and he couldn't resist!)

All of this and more...Bri missing over half of the month of school...Bri missing out on her dance recital because she had missed class and didn't know the entire dance...Taking Bri to multiple doctor appointments...(We have an appointment with a surgeon at Primary Children's next week)...a multitude of stuff for Relief Society...work...And finally...having my dishwasher break down and the prospect of having to handwash dishes for a few months!

All in all we have had a pretty good month and I am looking forward to a fun summer full of exciting things to BLOG about! :)
